It seems throughout history one certainty we can count on is - “Life is Unpredictable.” Has the unexpected taken you by surprise?

Has the unexpected taken you by surprise?  Have you ever noticed how life seems to take a right turn when you thought you had it all figured out? Sometimes, one challenge after another keeps hitting you at rapid speed, and you wonder – “How much more can I take?” You want to rely on your faith, but you begin questioning where is God?

It seems throughout history one certainty we can count on is – “Life is Unpredictable.” But how each of us faces our uncertainty, can be quite different. Has it shaken your faith or made it more robust? Unwanted and unexpected circumstances always seem to propel us one way or the other when it comes to our relationship with God. However, we do have a choice.

Perhaps you need a little courage this week to face the uncertainty in your life, but you aren’t quite sure where to muster it up. Our featured post from Pam Ecrement not only unleashes the key to being brave but also reminds us how to keep our faith secure. Along with her beautiful words, she shares one of my favorite stories from Corrie Ten Boom. You won’t want to miss her post, especially if the unexpected has taken you by surprise.

“Having confidence in God’s goodness is one of the linchpins of faith. When it is absent, our trust falters, our faith melts away like an ice cream cone on a summer’s day, and hope flickers like the wick at the end of a candle.”

  1. So timely. The unexpected is constantly showing up in my life. I think I need to just expect it. I think part of our job is learning to pivot and be flexible when this happens.

    1. Theresa,

Oh yes, the pivoting and flexibility is needed. Thank you for stopping by. Maree

  2. Hi Maree,
To the question “What Did You Expect”
I guess I expected God to keep “harm” from me. Jeremiah 29: 11 – no harm and a hope and future. Yet God allows “harm” to accost me at every turn. I thought God’s plan was for no “harm”. Personally I see life’s hardships as harmful, not helpful. Thanks Maree and God Bless You, in Jesus name, Amem.

    1. Kenneth,
I can see why you might feel the way you do, especially when you are in the middle of it. Pain is hard! However, I have my most growth after moving through pain. But I usually don’t see it until I have accepted the hardship, mourned the loss, and progressed a little beyond it. God never promised us we would live lives pain-free, or at least not until heaven. However, I love knowing that He is always with me (with all of us)and will see us through. I am stopping to pray right now for your situation. Maree

  3. So glad you featured Pam! I love her blog and her faith. Pam is a long-time faithful believer in Jesus who inspires my own faith.

I don’t always appreciate the unpredictability of life. 😉 So I need reminders that unexpected circumstances don’t have to shake my faith but can strengthen it.

    1. Oh, yes, I think we all need the reminder. It is funny the BIG unexpected strengthens my faith, but the small things seem to shake it because I try to do them on my own. Have a blessed day!

      Maree

  4. I often have to remind myself to slow down and imagine what people in the Bible must have experienced when they were going about an ordinary day, and then they saw a burning bush or an angel visited or a foreign army attacked or a king made a decree they could not keep. We see how it all worked out in just a few verses, but we forget how overwhelming the impact must have been on them at first. May we stay faithful no matter what unexpected things are around the bend.

    1. Barbara,

Thank you for your words this morning. You have given me a bit to think about this morning. First, is to ask God what is most important and what can wait to get done on another day.

I am always so encouraged by your words and look forward to them here on Friday morning.

      Maree

    1. I love that you are running right to God. I haven’t done enough of that this week. I am missing Him this week, as my quiet time keeps getting interrupted. Maree
