Do you need to cry out - “Why God?” What is holding you back from uttering those words? Are you afraid it might weaken your faith?

Do you need to cry out – “Why God?” What is holding you back from uttering those words? Are you afraid it might weaken your faith? Or perhaps, that God will be angry with you? Whatever it is, at some point in life, most likely, we all will find ourselves asking – “Why God?” “Why me?”

When God Doesn’t Intervene

After all, we know our God could change the course at any time. He could wipe away our unexpected pain, stop the struggle, and fulfill our unanswered prayers. And yet He doesn’t always do this.

Many times God allows our suffering to continue. With this in mind, it makes perfect sense to go to our Lord and ask - “Why God?” #WhyGod Click To Tweet

What Happens When We Ask – “Why God?”

When we utter those words, “Why God?” – it draws us into Him. It opens the door for comfort, love, and His almighty presence. We shouldn’t be afraid to ask – He wants us to.

When I find myself rattled by the why’s, I head to God in prayer. Usually, with tears running down my face, I cry out, “why-why-why?” “Haven’t we been through enough?” And then something strange comes about.

God wraps me up like a warm blanket on a cold night. My words begin to change to “God, I don’t know why, but I trust in you.” By the end of my prayer, the question doesn’t matter anymore. Instead, my eyes are fixed on Him. Does this happen to you too?

    1. It is not a problem at all. I would try again just in case somehow it gets fixed. In the meantime, I will keep adding them when I see your post in the comments. Maree

  1. Hi Maree,
Patti’s post was very raw, open & honest. It did trigger my own journey in grief in losing two of my children & husband as you’re aware, although Patti & I have traveled uniquely differing paths…
    On another issue;
I found out that apparently the Inlinz log in update is not compatible now with my old tablet’s capacity…as I couldn’t access it on any Inlinz community link ups even following all their advice including opening a Facebook account trying that avenue to no avail..
So I will just join everyone in the comments section if thats okay with you, as at present in this financial climate I won’t be updating my tablet,
This week’s post is Feeling Melancholy?

    Bless you,

    1. Jennifer,

Yes, you have had a great deal of loss. Your posts have been so inspirational to me. Praying for your heart tonight.

I am so sorry that the link-up isn’t working like it used to. Technology drives me bonkers sometimes. Yes, keep adding it to the comments, and I will add it to the link-up. I did last week too.

  2. Thank you, Maree for highlighting Patti’s post, it was a blessing to read her story and be reminded to trust God even when we can’t understand. He is so gentle and kind to us and never tires of us coming with the same questions. I suffered a loss this week that broke open some old wounds that are yet unresolved that had me before Him asking the same question of “why”, and ultimately walking away comforted and trusting in His good plan for me.

    1. Donna, I am so sorry for your loss this week. Praying! It is so strange how a new loss opens up the wounds of old ones. It wasn’t until recently I was able to articulate and understand this. I am so glad you found comfort in God. He is pretty amazing. Blessings, Maree

  3. Thank you for highlighting my post, Maree. I appreciate the opportunity to share that message with a broader audience. It’s funny….I really am content with God’s answer, but, still, the “why” question pops up quite often. It used to be it was friends of mine who were getting more children—now it’s my daughter’s friends. I suppose I will struggle with this my entire life.

    1. Patti, It was an honor to feature your post. I do understand exactly what you are saying. My circumstances are different, but I have my why’s that creep up from time to time. I am thankful for them because it draws me into God. Maree

  4. Thanks for another wonderful article. I know that position quite clearly. I ask this question all the time. The article said that this question opens the way for love, comfort, His almighty presence, that never happens. I cry out “why me” in-between sobs and many, many tears, to find myself even more heartbroken than before. God is absent and silent when it comes to me, and that is the biggest problem I have with Him. Nothing from God. I know I have said the same thing many times, but it never changes. Thanks and God Bless You, in Jesus name, Amen

    1. Ken, I won’t stop praying that you will soon feel God’s almighty presence. It is hard when we can’t feel Him hear. Praying during this time, you trust that He is near. Maree

  5. Thanks for sharing Patti’s post, Maree. We all have “why’s” in our lives that God doesn’t always answer. The more we get to know Him, the more we trust His love and goodness even when we don’t understand.
