Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental health is a subject that affects us all, yet we often talk about it in hushed tones or not at all. Statistics show that 1 in 5 people will experience a mental illness during their lifetime, making it one of our country’s most widespread health issues. That is why we need to increase mental health awareness and open the conversation for those with mental illness and their friends, family, and loved ones.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Embracing the Unexpected | Maree Dee is proud to present campaigns, resources, and posts that can help. We all have the potential to help someone in need or even help ourselves. Will you show your support by participating in one or more of the activities below?

Ways to Participate in Mental Health Awareness Month

There are numerous ways to participate—

  • Join a mental health awareness campaign
  • Share a post below related to mental illness
  • Share a resource offering support
  • Post on social media about mental health
  • Talk about mental health with friends and family
  • Reach out to someone who may be struggling
  • Follow us on social media for mental health conversations
  • Offer a listening ear to a friend
  • Pray

The more we engage in conversations with understanding and knowledge, the more we will lower the stigma. Let’s come together to reduce the stigma around mental illness and treat it like any other sickness.

We all can do something to help someone impacted by mental illness; no one should ever be alone in the struggle. #mentalhealthawarenessmonth Click To Tweet
