Who do you ultimately want to please? Is it God or man? Okay, so most of us probably responded with the Christian answer of God. But my guess is you are like me; you may be confusing the two.

I’m inclined to people-please. Quite honestly, I thought that was what “Good Christian people do.” Plus, who doesn’t want people to be happy with them? However, I was sorely wrong, and Jesus never demonstrated people-pleasing.

As I became aware of this major fault in my thinking, I began to make changes. I would repeat over and over again, “Remember, Jesus didn’t heal everyone.” What I did find out was the world didn’t fall apart when I failed to meet everyone’s needs. Yes, people didn’t like the change, but you know what? They most likely would never have been pleased in the first place.

Oh, don’t think for a minute I have this mastered. It is a constant battle. Today our featured post is from Gretchen Fleming. She has wise words as to why we don’t have to be people-pleasers. She wraps it up with four ways to please God over man. It is a must-read for any people-pleasers out there.

Please welcome my friend, Gretchen Fleming. You can find her beautiful website here where she writes about the glorious journey following hard after God.

  1. I’m still working on not being a people pleaser, but I’ve definitely made progress. Blessings to you, Maree!

    1. Gayl, You are not alone. I too still struggle with people pleasing but I am making improvements. Maree
