Perhaps you wish you were adventerous, but you end up staying in your comfort zone. What stops you from launching into something new?

Are you an adventurous one who loves meeting new people, traveling to unfamiliar places, and trying new things? Perhaps you wish you were, but instead, you often end up staying in your comfort zone. What stops you from launching into something new?

We may start with dreams and good intentions. However, we can quickly find ourselves shuffling our feet a bit, then stalling around until we arrive at an attitude of downright refusal to try something new. #new Click To Tweet

We use every excuse in the book – too old, not smart enough, too young, the timing is wrong, etc. My favorite one is that there is someone out there who could do it better than me.

What excuses hold you back from launching into something new?

Two Big Reasons

However, when we dig below the surface, we will often find fear & insecurity lurking underneath. These two culprits sometimes keep us stuck from launching into something new.

What helps you combat fear and insecurity in launching into something new?

Hands down for me, it is GOD and knowing He will never leave us. Plus, when He asks us to do something, He will equip us. We can grab His hand and do it scared.

Today’s featured post from Maryleigh has me nodding my head up and down as she reminds us God will give us the courage and determination we need when launching into something new. With my arm raised high and moving in a quick circular motion, I am shouting the words she often told her boys –

“Slay that Monster FEEEAAAARRRRR”

  1. I can relate to not starting something new because of fear or believing someone else can do it better. It’s a good thing God doesn’t think the same thing. He knows our hearts and capabilities and equips us to do the work He has set before us.

    1. Mary – Yes, I agree. Thank goodness we have God on our side, and He knows so much more about us than we do. He will equip. Thank you for stopping by. Maree

  2. I am definitely not a risk-taker. 🙂 I need reminders like yours and Maryleigh’s for encouragement to push past my fear and lay it all on the line with God! Thanks, Maree.

    1. Oh, Lisa I am not always a risk-taker. When it comes to trying new food, I refuse. I hope you havea. great holiday weekend. Maree

  3. I am so excited someone else loves my , “Slay that Monster FEEEAAAARRR” quote – because my boys just roll their eyes – LOL! Today I overcame Muffins! Can you believe it? Muffins! How hard can that be! I could do the cakes and scone, and frostings before I started at the bakery – and now bread and pie dough, but I was humbled so much by Muffins – so many fails! My bakery shop owner didn’t give up on me – and, with determination and prayer, I didn’t either! You’ve blessed me so much today Maree! Thank you and {{{HUGS}}}, Maryleigh

    1. I do love your quote. I am tackling something difficult this week, so my arm is swinging as I slay the monster. Your baking sounds fabulous. I am so proud of you. Maree

  4. This one is a simple question to answer. It’s not that I am procrastinating from trying something new, it’s because I can’t. Trying new things requires funds. When you live in poverty you can’t afford to try something new. Thanks for the post, and May God Bless You, in Jesus name, Amen

    1. Kenneth – How about trying something new that doesn’t cost anything. I recently went for a hike all by myself in the forest. It is a little scary, but I pushed through it and had the best time.

However, I have to admit another day I turned back when I saw a deer and then some wild animal that was staring at me. And this wasn’t even in the forest but on the street.

      Maree

  5. Thanks for featuring this post! Yes, I have let fear and insufficiency stop me too many times. But when I’ve responded to God’s gentle nudge to step out of my comfort zone, He has used those experiences to grow me.

    1. Barbara – Oh, yes, those growing pains. I’m in the middle of it right now. God is so good to gently nudge us, isn’t He? Maree
