Do you ever find yourself in a place where God has asked you to do something that terrifies you? Finding someone strong and courageous helps.

My head was spinning as I attempted time and time again to get it right. My nerves kept getting in the way as I practiced my speech and fumbled with my words. I pleaded with God, “Please not me. Surely, God, you must have someone else in mind, someone who is strong and courageous.”

Ahh, but he didn’t. He chose me. It was beyond my wildest dreams why He picked me for the task at hand. I even offered to find him someone else with a lot more talent, but he declined.

Do you ever find yourself in a place where God has asked you to do something that terrifies you?

When feeling underqualified for a God-ordained task, here are a few tips that help:

1. Remember, it’s not about us and our abilities. God will equip and use His power to complete the assignment.

2. Find examples of strong and courageous people God used to complete a God-ordained task.

One of my favorite stories in the Bible is about David and Goliath. I never tire of hearing how the great big giant was taken down with a mere stone and a sling. But equally important is to look around and find real-time examples of strong and courageous people.

Do you know someone strong and courageous?

Pam Ecrement who writes at, A New Lens,  shared a beautiful example of her courageous granddaughter, Sydney. As I read her story, I could feel my fear releasing, and my courage building bit by bit as tears of joy streamed down my face.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
