Do you ever make vows to everybody else and fail to consider yourself? Maybe it is time to consider asking - what will you promise yourself this year?

Do you ever make vows to everybody else and fail to consider yourself? It is an easy trap to fall into without even being aware. We get hung up in productivity and accomplishing tasks and fail to think about what might be right for us. Maybe it is time to consider the question – what will you promise yourself this year?

My friend Michelle Bengtson has had a few years of unexpected difficult things in her life. She has bravely battled the storms. I have watched from afar at her resilience and reliance on God. She is a warrior.

And from experience, when you meet a warrior, it is worth pulling up a chair and listening to the life lessons they have learned.

Today, Michelle shares with us some of the life principles she has learned along her journey. She recognizes life is short and therefore makes 15 promises to herself. It is a list you won’t want to miss.

“Life is too short to waste energy on things that don’t matter.”

Michelle Bengtson

Like many of you, I have rallied behind her in prayer. If you haven’t had a chance to meet her, today is your lucky day. Click on over to her website and read our featured post for today.

  1. I’ve never thought of promising myself something for the new year. I guess that’s kind of like a personal resolution. I’m going to hop over and read Michelle’s post. Thanks, Maree!

Thank you for linking up at InstaEncouragements!

  2. Listening to warriors gives us the courage to be brave when it’s our time on the battle field. Thanks for sharing about Michelle here. Her #9 resonates the most with me for 2020: “I’m going to appreciate present over perfect.”

    1. Mary, It is hard to remember to take care of ourselves. A great promise to have. Blessings, Maree

  3. Thank you Maree.
My promise to myself… is to be kinder to myself, far too often I expect so much more of myself then I am actually capable of physically doing in this season of chronic health issues…
    Bless you,
    Jennifer

    1. Jennifer, Now that is an excellent promise to yourself. I can only imagine how hard it is to live with chronic health issues. I thought the flu was pretty bad last week, but I found myself thanking God that was all it was. Prayers, Maree
