Wishing you a Merry Christmas 2020. Hoping you find joy in your day, love in your heart, and Jesus as the most valuable present you unwrap this holiday season.

“For to us a child is born,

    to us a son is given,

    and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called

    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

 Of the greatness of his government and peace

    there will be no end.

He will reign on David’s throne

    and over his kingdom,

establishing and upholding it

    with justice and righteousness

    from that time on and forever.

The zeal of the Lord Almighty

    will accomplish this.”

Isaiah 9:6-7

The Best Gift

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!”

 Corinthians 9:15

Jesus Brings Joy

“Joy to the world! The Lord is come!

Let earth receive her King;

Let every heart prepare Him room,

and heaven and nature sing, and heaven and nature sing,

and heaven, and heaven, and nature sing.”

—Isaac Watts 1719

God Is With Us

“Never will I leave you;

never will I forsake you.”

  1. Hi Maree,
    I have a question about envy, and thought you might know the answer or have some insight into this.
    This will be difficult to put into words, but I’ll try.
    Is envy, without any ill will, still a sin. Let’s say person A is ugly. Person B is beautiful. Person A likes how person B looks and desires to look as nice as person B. Person A doesn’t wish Person B wasn’t beautiful. Person A just wants to be beautiful also.
    The Bible says that envy means wanting to take what you want away from the other person. The above example doesn’t want to take anything the other has. One person just wants the same for themselves.
    What do you think about this?
    Thanks Maree and may God bless you, in Jesus name, Amen.

    1. Kenneth,

      You ask a hard question. The strange thing is I thought I responded however, I don’t see my response. I am definitely not an expert on this, so this is only my opinion. If we look at what others have (beauty, things, etc.) and it causes our heart to be discontent with what we have, then yes, it might very well be a sin. God wants us to be content. However, noticing someone else’s beauty by itself would not be envy. Ken – this is only my opinion. I could be flat out wrong. Maree

    1. I hope you had a Merry Christmas. I loved your post. Lights are my second favorite decoration. This year my son put them up all over the backyard. It is beautiful. But most of all, I love the fact that Jesus is the light of the world. Happy New Year to you. Maree
