Do you ever wonder if you are following what God wants for your life? Do you get hung up in thinking you are not doing enough and the Lord will not be pleased with you? Today our featured writer shares with us how to be certain you are in the will of God.

To be honest ever since I was a little girl I had BIG dreams of what I would do for God. I loved helping others (still do), and I dreamed of setting out to change the lives of many and make my mark on the world.

Do you see the problem? It was all about ME.

This way of thinking led to frustrations as the BIG opportunities didn’t seem to come my way. Plus, I felt inept when it came to skills one might need to possess to accomplish these more significant endeavors.

Then as I matured in my faith and yes my age, my heart began growing to a place where I truly desired to do God’s will and could care less about the recognition. However,  I struggled to understand what he wanted from me and no matter what I did it never seemed BIG enough or GOOD enough.

Do you ever struggle thinking you haven’t done enough?

As time when on, I began feeling as if I had let God down.

Then I read a fantastic book called, “The Will of God as a Way of Life.” It changed my thinking and my heart. I began to look at God’s will as a daily walk not all about the BIG events.

God blessed me with opportunities to help one person at a time and know it is enough. He instructs me how to live in His will daily, as I  settle in and hear his voice.

  3. I have always loved the wise words of Billy Graham when I try to discern the will of God in my life: ““The will of God will not take us where the grace of God cannot sustain us.”

    1. Yes, Billy Graham’s words are some of my favorites too. He was such a wise man. Blessings, Maree

  6. Whew! Every time I read your blog, I’m convicted. I regularly wrestle with what God wants for me. What His will is in my life, but I’m a work in progress. Thank you, Jesus!

    1. Susan, You are in good company. I am a work in progress too. Hoping you have a fantastic week. Maree

  7. I’ve wrestled with that, too, Maree – what big thing does God want me to do. It’s so simple yet so profound that if we do His will in the everyday, we’ll be in His will in whatever larger picture He wants us to be in as well. Rebecca did a beautiful job honing in on the essence of God’s will.

    1. I agree Rebecca did do a beautiful job on her post. I love the way she simplified into four words. We make it so complicated when it doesnt’ have to be. Thank you for taking the time to comment. I always look forward to seeing what you might have to say. Maree
